Weekend Update

Me
Talk about a double whammy. Not only was my cast vote on Saturday, but I also had to perform as Riff Raff for the first time. Although technically, it wasn't my official first time, I was just filling in due to the lack of Riffs (we'll miss ya, Christian).

Funny thing is, I think I was more nervous about the vote than I was about performing. I was perfectly comfortable being on stage. I don't know if it's getting older, or more experience or whatever, but the performance was nothing like back in school, you know, when you had to give a speech or presentation, and your palms are sweating and there's a lump in your throat. I experienced none of that on Saturday--even in the moments leading up to my first appearance during "There's a Light." My heartbeat remained at a steady...well I don't know what the average heart rate is, but I'm sure I was there.

The highlights for me were "There's a Light," and I have to thank Genn for that because she gave me some great coaching and ideas on how to make it interesting and exciting and fun to perform.

And then there was "Time Warp." Yeah. Thank G-d Scott was there taping the show for me, because I got to see everything I did right and everything I did wrong (especially with Time Warp), so now I have a great guide for the next time I perform. I got to see where my timing was off, where my blocking was wrong, choreography that I could have done better, movements that could have been bigger...

By the way, thanks for the feather duster gag, Liz. LOL! Talk about an initation. But I still managed to catch one of them.

I was pretty happy with the Take Over scene, and the scene when Riff threatens Rocky with the candelabra.

I definitely need to work on the "Sword of Damocles" choreography, and the two kicks at the beginning of "Time Warp."

But, being how the performance fell into my lap kinda short notice, I made peace with the fact that my blocking would be off, so I used the opportunity to focus more on the characterization, and making sure I could stay in character the whole time.

And I really have to thank the whole Home of Happiness cast for not only being so patient with me on stage, but for taking a chance on me and voting me in. =)

Wish I could have been there to see it man, but then again, if I had been around this weekend, I probably would have been Riff instead. I look forward to your first official performance.

No worries, dude. =) Thanks for going over the makeup with me. That was another thing that almost went horribly wrong Saturday, but I was able to fix because of your advice.

heh, i'm glad you liked the feather dusters - besides playing columbia's leg like a guitar at the end of "sweet t", that's my favorite gag =)

and don't worry, there are few riffs that ever caught any of them!!!

That's so funny about playing Columbia's leg, cuz my back was to you both, and I had no idea what was going on behing me. I could feel something going on--part of me was hoping it was some hot girl on girl actiom ;-). But when I watched the tape last night, I saw what was going on, and it looked so cool!

You know, that's the first time I've seen you play Magenta...you were great! I'd like to play against you again sometime, I thought we played well off each other.
